When i meet new people and tell them I live in Costa Rica, they invariably ask me, "But why did you choose to live in Costa Rica, of all the countries of the world?" To which I have my pat answer:
"The weather is excellent, perhaps a bit too rainy, the women are beautiful and sexy, the land is inexpensive, and the beaches are untouched ..."
This answer is no longer completely valid as the beaches are being overrun by foriegners with too much money to throw away and the land is no longer inexpensive anywhere in Costa Rica. But the women are still sexy and beautiful.

Live in Costa Rica for the experience!
I love it when talking to tourists in Costa Rica to hear of their homelands where no-one seems happy. At least the travelers that i meet here are happy to be away from the madness and relaxing in this relaxed country.
Experience in Costa Rica is far different then in California. I do not wear a watch but i usually know what time it is. I do not make appointments often but rather just show up at the Dentist or Lawyer's office as even with an appointment time seems to have lost all sense of value. When someone says to me "I'll be there in five minutes" i know that i have an hour or more to wait. If they tell me it will be ready in one hour that means maybe tomorrow.
I grew up with respect for time and time pieces. A new watch was a special gift. Being on time was a virtue and making and keeping apointments was a top priority in my life which i have all but lost now after so many years living this latin experience.
